# One Right Eye: How an eye-care startup explains itself with one 3D eye

- Year: 2024
- Industry: Healthcare
- Services: UX research, Web design, Branding, Webflow development, 3D and motion
- Result: Launch, First website
- Stage: Startup

## Input

One Right Eye is an Austrian ophthalmology startup: an AI-driven 3D model of the eye that helps doctors explain diseases and procedures to patients. The co-founder, ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Joos Meyer, came to us for a team to take on their first website. It had to launch the product and speak to optometrists, ophthalmologists and clinics at once.

## Reasoning

The product is visual, so the site shows it. The 3D eye is the hero, rotating and opening up section by section. We started with interviews, competitor analysis and personas for doctors, technicians and clinic admins, then moved to wireframes, UI and a design system. Deep violet, soft greys and a grotesk that is sharp but warm keep it medical without feeling cold.

## Outcomes

A full brand and a Webflow website built from scratch in 2024: specialty pages, pricing and sign-up flows, a mobile version, 3D animation of the eye, social templates and print. One team covered research, design, 3D and development, and the site is live at onerighteye.com.

## Design notes

- **The product is the hero.** One Right Eye sells a 3D model of the eye, so no stock photo could explain it better than the model itself. We built the key animation around the eye turning and opening layer by layer, the same way a doctor uses it with a patient.
- **Lead with the patient's problem.** The manifesto line, "Patients don't just listen, they need to see, to understand", opens the story before any feature list. Doctors recognise their daily struggle with posters and plastic models first, and only then meet the product.
- **One door for each specialty.** Optometrists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists and researchers use the model for different things. Instead of one generic pitch, each group gets its own entry point and its own page, so the first screen they read is about their work.
- **Precise type, warm colours.** Founders Grotesk keeps medical copy precise without sounding clinical. The palette runs from charcoal and soft grey for reading to deep violet, lavender and blush for the brand, colours you won't find in a hospital corridor.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do you design a website for a medtech startup?

Start with the people who will use the product. For One Right Eye we interviewed users, analysed competitors and built personas for doctors, technicians and clinic admins before drawing a single screen. The site then leads with the patient problem and shows the product in action. When the product's own screens and flows need the same work: [product design for SaaS startups](https://figmatica.com/services/product-design).

### How do you show a complex medical product on a website?

Let the product speak visually. One Right Eye is a 3D model of the eye, so the model itself became the hero, animated layer by layer and placed on a clinic monitor, a laptop and a phone. Visitors understand what it does before they read the copy.

### How do you speak to several medical audiences on one site?

Give each audience its own entry point. The One Right Eye site has separate paths for optometry, ophthalmology, orthoptics and researchers, each with its own page. A clinic owner and a researcher both land on something written for them.

### What should a healthcare brand look like to feel trustworthy?

Clear and calm, but not cold. For One Right Eye we chose Founders Grotesk for its balance of precision and warmth, and a palette from charcoal and soft grey to deep violet and blush. It reads as medical without looking like a hospital.

### How long does it take to design a startup's first website?

For One Right Eye the design phase took about six and a half weeks: one week of UX research, one of personas, a week and a half of wireframes, two weeks of UI and one week for the design system. Webflow development, 3D animation and brand materials followed with the same team. The platform decides how much the team can later change on its own: see [how Webflow compares with WordPress](https://figmatica.com/compare/webflow-vs-wordpress).
