# Acvian: 30+ pages in 60 days: a new Webflow site for a global HR partner

- Year: 2024
- Industry: AI & B2B
- Services: Web design, Illustrations & Motion, Webflow development
- Result: Launch, Move from WordPress
- Stage: Scaleup

## Input

Acvian helps companies hire people in any country: it takes on the contracts, the payroll and the paperwork that protect both the employer and the employee. In a few years it grew from one subsidiary in Ukraine into a group of almost ten companies with offices in seven countries. Its WordPress site was more than three years old, looked weaker than the company, and every new article cost the marketers extra time.

## Reasoning

The brief set two roads side by side: a new design on the same WordPress, or a move to Webflow, where marketing builds pages on its own. We priced both, won the closed tender, and Acvian chose the move. To the client's own research we added an analysis of competitors and showed seven first-screen concepts. The final design joins the colours of one with the network illustration of another, grown out of Acvian's logo.

## Outcomes

A new site on Webflow with more than 30 pages: service pages with animated illustrations, country pages, a payroll cost estimator, a resources section and a set of CMS blocks from which marketing assembles articles itself. The project took 60 days and went live in the autumn of 2024. Almost two years later, 104 of the old site's 120 addresses still lead to a page with the same or close content.

> We needed a view from outside and a designer's approach. We got several options, compared them, and the team listened to our edits and offered its own ideas. Thanks to that, it all turned out very well.

## Design notes

- **A first screen grown out of the logo.** Acvian's logo is a small tree of dots and lines. On the first screen it unfolds into a network: people in circles, and between them the services a worker passes through on the way to a new company. Three lines under the headline type out one after another: unlock talent, hire within 24 hours, manage and pay your team.
- **From competitor analysis to Webflow.** The work ran in this order: an analysis of Acvian's competitors, design concepts, every page for a desktop screen at 1440 and a phone at 375, the UI kit, and the build in Webflow. The whole project took 60 days.
- **Seven concepts at the first showing.** From a network of dots to a watercolour landscape, a person on the first screen, a dark planet and digital futurism. Acvian picked the first and the third; The client told us later that three concepts would have been easier to choose from, and since then we show three at most.
- **Over 30 pages.** The company page opens with Acvian's real team, each person with a photo and a short story. The payroll cost estimator forecasts an employee's cost in 180 countries in seconds, and the country cards show taxes, currency and holidays for each market.
- **The client's prototype became a page.** Acvian came with a sitemap, texts and page prototypes from an earlier designer. We refined the information architecture and the hierarchy of each page and turned the grey lines into the finished design.
- **A structure for a group of companies.** Nine top-level sections, a page for each of the seven offices, and six collections that marketing fills through the CMS: team, careers, countries, blog, case studies and FAQ.
- **Hagrid for headlines.** Roboto from the brand book went aside at the first showing: the site had to stay current for years. Headlines are set in Hagrid Text, the text in GT Walsheim Pro.
- **Illustrations that tell the service.** Employer of record, payroll and relocation are hard to picture, so every service page got a scene drawn in Figma. On the immigration page a small plane lights up the steps one by one; on the payroll page cheques fall to employees in different countries; on the PEO page people from four countries gather round a globe.
- **The same story on a phone.** On phones the offer comes first and the illustrations follow; blocks stack vertically, some sections become sliders, and scroll animations become swipes.
- **Articles that marketing builds itself.** A marketer opens an article in the Webflow editor, presses the plus and picks a block: a heading of the right level, a gallery, a list, one of three table styles, a banner with a button, a client's quote. The spacing is already set in the design.
- **A site that still showed the first year.** Left, the WordPress site in August 2024: one headline and a button asking for a proposal. Right, the new site: the network, the clients' logos, the rating and a meeting booked in one click.
- **104 of 120 old addresses still work.** We set up the redirects from the old WordPress addresses to the new pages. Almost two years after the move, 104 of the 120 addresses the web archive saw on the old site lead to a page with the same or close content.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do you design a website for an employer of record or HR services company?

Start from what the buyer checks first: in which countries you work, what you take on, and proof that others trust you. For Acvian that meant country pages, a scene for each service, client logos and a rating on the first screen, and a payroll cost estimator that gives a number before the first call.

### How do you move a site from WordPress to Webflow and keep your rankings?

Collect every old address, match each one to a page with the same content, and set up permanent 301 redirects before the launch. A month later walk the old addresses again. For Acvian, 104 of 120 old addresses lead to the right page almost two years after the move.

### How many design concepts should a studio show a client?

Three at most. For Acvian we showed seven at the first showing, and the client told us that three, with a little more time on each, would have been easier to choose from. Since then we show three.

### How can a marketing team publish on a corporate site on its own?

Design the article as a set of blocks and connect them to the CMS. On Acvian's Webflow site a marketer presses the plus in the editor and picks a heading, a gallery, a table, a banner or a client's quote; the spacing is set in the design.

### How long does a new corporate website take?

Acvian's site took 60 days, because the client brought a sitemap, texts for every page, prototypes, a profile of the ideal client and a brand book. When these still need to be made, add the time for that work at the start.
